Stitching and Finishing Instructions:

Cut a piece of 32 count Belfast Linen "Ice Blue" approximately 14 inches by 14 inches. Mount fabric in stitching frame for best stitching tension.

To center design on fabric, find center of fabric and begin stitching at center of chart (marked by arrows at edge of chart). Using 2 strands of colors indicated, work all full cross stitches as shown on chart. Small chart symbols (for example at edge of round ornament) are full cross stitches using 1 strand of color indicated worked over 1 thread of linen ("petite cross stitches").

For best appearance, work all cross stitches individually; complete each cross stitch before moving on to the next cross stitch. Work Sapphire cross stitches using only darkest part of thread.

Complete all cross stitches first, then work backstitches and large star stitches. Large star stitches are worked using 2 strands of Overdyed MiniTwist "Snow" and 1 strand of Kreinik blending filament. Work large star stitches similar to an Algerian Eyelet: begin each "leg" of the star at the outside of the stitch, taking needle down at center of stitch. Do not pull stitch tight-finished large star stitch should be smooth, flat, and even.

After all stitching is complete, sew the small ladybug embellishment at center of holly.

Finished project may be made into a framed small picture, or may be made into a small stuffed holiday ornament or doorknob hanging.
